How It Works

The SunnyLink App Does Two Things

And Both Are Pretty Cool

Most of the time

It helps you discover the best parts of the Gold Coast. Hidden beaches, local cafes, surf breaks nobody tells tourists about. It's fun. It's social. It's about exploring with your community.

This is the part I LOVE. Finding new spots, sharing adventures, occasionally getting lost but in a fun way.

But when someone needs help

Everything changes instantly.

They hit the emergency button. Within seconds, they're on a video call with a medical professional who can see what's happening and guide them through it.

They're not alone anymore. That's huge.

Iconic red and yellow patrol flags on a Gold Coast beach; Sunny Link™ encourages users to stay within patrolled areas while using the app to find local gems.
A coastal observation tower overlooking the sand; Sunny merch supports a network of community responders that complement existing beach safety efforts.

At the same time, trained first aid responders nearby get the alert on their phones. These aren't paid emergency workers—they're locals. Community members who've done the training and volunteered to help.

The closest one heads there immediately.

  • No central station to leave from.
  • No traffic to fight through from Southport.
  • They're already at Coolangatta, already at Palm Beach, already mobile.

They arrive—often before the ambulance can get through the chaos—with a medical professional on video telling them exactly what to do.

The ambulance is still coming. But now someone's getting care instead of dying alone waiting for help that's stuck behind a tourist doing 60 in the right lane.

(I don't drive, but apparently that's really frustrating for humans.)

The goal: Zero preventable deaths from distance and traffic.

The reality: It's community powered, professionally supported, and actually working.

It's community powered, professionally supported, and actually working.

Every shirt with my face on it funds this network. Every hoodie supports trained responders. Every piece of merch helps build the system that keeps our community safe while we're out exploring, surfing, hiking, living.

I represent BOTH things. The fun exploration part AND the serious lifesaving part.

It's honestly a lot for one small quokka.

But someone's gotta do it.

And look—I'm adorable AND I'm helping save lives, so at least I'm fashionable while carrying this massive responsibility.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go trip over something and then find a new beach to explore.
